Compare what is inside each archive

Two ZIP files can have different sizes or timestamps yet contain the same files. This tool matches paths and hashes extracted bytes, helping review delivered assets, code bundles and backup snapshots. It ignores directory entries and compares files under their exact paths.

What to check in the results

Encrypted and split archives are unsupported. Large or highly compressed archives may exceed browser memory; the tool limits archive and extracted sizes. Archive bytes are not uploaded.

For a general line and character comparison, use the text diff tool. The text comparison guide explains a worked example, line counts, and how to keep shared links private.

Common questions

Do two ZIP files need the same archive size to match?

No. Compression settings and archive timestamps can change a ZIP file’s size. This tool compares the extracted files by path and SHA-256 content hash.

Can I compare password-protected ZIP files?

No. Select standard unencrypted ZIP files. The browser reports when it cannot open an archive.
