Date and time difference calculator

Find the number of days between two dates, the real elapsed hours between two times, or the date a number of days or weeks from today. See exactly what each answer counts.

Results update as you change the inputs. All calculations happen in this browser; the dates and times are not added to the URL.

01 / Calendar dates

How many days between two dates?

Count calendar days without a daylight-saving shift changing the answer. The default result is the gap between dates; an inclusive count is shown separately.

02 / Elapsed time

How many hours between two times?

Enter both dates and times to handle overnight spans. Local mode uses your device’s time zone and measures real elapsed time across daylight-saving changes; UTC mode uses UTC clock times.

Interpret these clock times as

During a fall-back clock change, one local time can occur twice. This field cannot distinguish those two occurrences; use UTC for that interval.

03 / Date offset

What date is a number of days from today?

Try a common question below or choose your own start date, amount and direction. A week is exactly seven calendar days.

Worked examples

Three questions, three different answers

Days between dates

January 31 to March 1, 2026 is 29 calendar days, or four weeks and one day. Counting both named dates gives 30 dates.

Hours between times

May 1, 2026 from 9:15 AM to 5:45 PM is 8 hours 30 minutes, or 510 total minutes.

Days from today

Choose 30 days from today to get the target date and weekday in your browser. The result uses today on your device, so it stays current after this page was published.

Calendar days and elapsed hours differ

A date-only question counts the distance between calendar dates. It does not assume every local day lasts 24 hours. The time calculator instead subtracts two actual moments; a daylight-saving change can make a local day 23 or 25 elapsed hours.

The calculator shows the ordinary gap and an inclusive count that names both endpoint dates. Use the result that matches whether you mean time passed or dates touched.

Common dates from today

The shortcuts answer questions such as “14 days from today,” “what is 30 days from today,” “60 days from today,” and “90 days from today.” You can also find the dates 8 weeks from today or 12 weeks from today. Each shortcut uses your current local date and counts calendar days; it does not skip weekends or holidays.

For another starting point, change the start date. Choose Before to find a date in the past.

Common questions

Does the days-between answer include the last date?

The main answer counts days elapsed between the dates, so the same date gives zero. The “Counting both dates” result adds one for an inclusive count.

Why can one calendar day have fewer than 24 hours?

Local clocks can move forward or back for daylight saving. The elapsed-time section uses your device’s time zone for local timestamps. Select UTC when you need an unambiguous clock basis.

Can I calculate an overnight shift?

Yes. Put the shift’s start and end dates alongside their clock times. The result shows total minutes, total hours, and the days-hours-minutes breakdown.

Are my dates sent anywhere?

The calculations run in your browser. Inputs are not added to the page URL or sent to a comparison server. Copy result uses your browser clipboard only when you select it.
