How to use it

How to compare two lists online

Use this list comparison tool when you need to find which values were added, removed, shared, or repeated. Each line is one item. You can paste a column from Excel or Google Sheets, an email list, a set of usernames, or product IDs. Choose one of the sample comparisons above to see the process before pasting your own data.

  1. STEP 01

Paste List A and List B

Put the original list on the left and the list you want to compare it with on the right. Keep one value per line; blank lines are ignored.

  2. STEP 02

    Choose the matching rules

Use Unique values to compare whether an item appears at all. Use Count every occurrence when repeated entries matter. Case and surrounding spaces match exactly unless you turn those options on.

  3. STEP 03

    Read the differences

Only in A and Only in B show items on one side, including extra copies when you count occurrences. In both shows matches. All distinct combines unique values, while Duplicates shows repeated values and their counts.

  4. STEP 04

    Copy or download the answer

Copy the selected result group to use in a spreadsheet or download a text report containing every group. Your pasted lists are processed in your browser.

Compare email lists or usernames

Compare last month’s subscribers with this month’s to see which addresses appear only in the old list, only in the new list, or in both. The same approach works for two pasted lists of Instagram usernames. The username example uses illustrative handles and does not connect to Instagram or fetch account data.

For spreadsheet columns, copy the cells and paste them directly. This tool compares pasted values; it does not open or compare complete Excel workbooks.

Find duplicate items and extra copies

Suppose List A has SKU-001 twice and List B has it once. In Unique values mode, that SKU is shared. In Count every occurrence mode, one copy is shared and one is left over in List A. Open Duplicates to see the original count in each list.

IDs such as 0012 stay as text, so leading zeros are preserved. Trimming spaces or ignoring case changes how values match, while the displayed values retain their original spelling.

Which comparison do you need?

List comparison ignores position and answers which values occur on each side. If the order or wording of whole paragraphs matters, use the text comparison tool for a line-by-line diff.
